My Grandmother used to tell me that the fastest way to someone’s heart is through their stomach. Wise words from a wise woman. And she was correct. She taught me to cook starting from a young age, and the lessons she gave me where invaluable. She was wonderfully creative in the kitchen, and I guess that’s where I learned it from.
But being creative isn’t just about knowing flavors or textures. It’s about being gutsy enough to try something different or to customize it in ways that you hadn’t thought of before. Occasionally it doesn’t work out. However, most of the time with a little tweaking, it does.
Most of the recipes that you’ll find here can be easily customized for ANY food allergy. I say most because some of them will have components that are needed for it to work out. But I am sure that with a little brain power behind it, even those can be adjusted for the needs at hand.

This is my lead-in into the holiday baking season and the making of the apple butter, apple pies, apple dumplings, (amongst other wonderful apple delights) and just watching my grandson sneak one here and there. These pancakes…
